Instant Card

The Instant Card is a temporary virtual credit card (no plastic issued) for UC Santa Cruz Employees and Students while on official university business travel. This card is issued to UC travelers who do not have access to the Corporate Travel and Entertainment Card (CTE card). The Instant Card features a firm dollar limit with specific active dates for usage that cannot extend beyond one year.

How To Request A Card​

Fill out the Instant Card User Agreement Form, route it through DocuSign for the appropriate signatures.

The cardholder MUST have a mobile device with the ability to download the US Bank Instant Card mobile app to receive and use the Temporary Virtual Payment Card.​​

Using Your Instant Card

How to Use An Instant Card

To use the Instant Card at a tap-to-pay kiosk, simply open the US Bank Instant Card mobile app, select the card, then hold the mobile device to the tap-to-pay kiosk. For more information on using the Instant Card or paying using the card number, see How to Use Instant Card on the Mobile App.

Instant Card Reconciliation

How To Reconcile Your Instant Card Reconciling is required using CruzFly for each travel trip and/or entertainment event. An expense report will need to be completed for each trip and/or event.

Outstanding Instant Card reconciliations 60 days past due will result in suspension of the cardholder’s account. ​​​

Introducing UCSC Instant Card – A replacement for Travel Cash Advances
We are excited to announce the UC Santa Cruz Instant Card program starting July 1, 2024, for UCSC employees and students who are traveling for official university business.

​This new travel card program is intended to replace Travel Cash Advances. The original communication is also available for reference.​​​

Update to UC Travel Reimbursement Policy G-28
Attention travelers, there has been a recent update UC Travel Reimbursement Policy G-28. As of 1/1/24, the CONUS lodging cap of $275 has increased to $333 per night before taxes and fees.
