Payroll Direct Deposit Sign Up Campaign for 2017
For the next several weeks, Financial Affairs will be actively reaching out to UCSC employees who receive paper paychecks to encourage sign ups for Payroll Direct Deposit, the fastest, easiest, and "greenest" way to receive pay. Students are the largest group of employees who receive paper paychecks; please help us spread the word by talking with your student workers about direct deposit. Moving Expense Submission
To ensure that our Payroll and Accounts Payable teams have adequate time to process moving expense reimbursement transactions during calendar year 2017 and to comply with the year-end tax reporting deadlines, please submit all moving expense reimbursements to FAST by November 1st.

Reimbursement paperwork submitted after this date will likely be processed during calendar year 2018.

Fiscal Year 2016-2017 Year-End Closing Schedule
Our current fiscal year, FY17, will end on June 30, 2017. As we near this closing date, it is important for Divisions/Units/Departments to review purchasing requirements and budgets. You will need to be aware of deadlines which must be followed to ensure transactions are processed correctly and in time to meet fiscal year-end requirements.

A detailed calendar of closing events is posted on the Financial Affairs website. Please take the time to review the Fiscal Close 2016-2017 Schedule.

2016 1042-S and Glacier Tax Prep Software Now Available
Form 1042-S (Foreign Person’s U.S. Source Income Subject to Withholding) for 2016 is available in GLACIER for eligible nonresident aliens; this includes: employees who claimed a tax treaty exemption, all nonresident alien scholarship/fellowship recipients, and all other nonresident alien payees generally paid through the vendor system.

The International Education Office, and Accounting Office, are pleased to announce that Glacier Tax Prep (GTP) software has been licensed again this year for international students and scholars to assist in filing 2016 Federal income tax returns.

This online system is a free service that will help prepare the necessary Federal income tax forms to assist with meeting the required April 18th tax return filing date with the IRS. Eligible Foreign Nationals have been sent notification via GLACIER regarding their GTP system access.

Electronic W-2s for 2016 Now Available
Electronic W-2s for 2016 (as well as Form 1095-C for health insurance coverage) are now available at AYSO. For employees who did not opt out of paper delivery, printed W-2s will be mailed to permanent addresses postmarked by 1/31/2017. Printed 1095-Cs will be mailed postmarked by 3/31/2017.

W-2s are required when filing both California State and Federal Tax returns. The filing deadline is April 15th.

Due to system maintenance, At Your Service Online (AYSO) will have limited availability on Friday afternoon (4/22) starting at 1:30pm, and will then be completely unavailable from 5pm Friday, until 9am Sunday (4/24). Please plan your usage accordingly.

New Health Insurance Coverage Forms
Watch your mail for IRS Forms 1095-B and 1095-C, being distributed to all employees by March 31, 2016 as part of Affordable Care Act requirements. These forms do NOT need to be filed with your tax return, but you should review and retain them with your tax documents. Click here for more information.
